Physical & Chemical Characteristics

The Decoral finish is obtained through the application of a first coat of powder series 7 code 533.68.00, purposely produced and approved by Qualicoat with license no. P-0246 and through the subsequent heat-transfer of the various decorations. The decoration is made by the company Viv-Decoral, holder of the Qualicoat trademark with certificate no. 03F for the finish A-7, B-7, E-7, F-7 and G-7.
It is characterised with an excellent resistance to solvents, (among which those listed below) for an even coverage and satin finish.

Other features are: easy to remove marker ink, spray paint and other stains by using Xylem, Acetone or a 1:1 mixture of Acetone/Ethyl Acetate and Acetate/Ethanol.

Outdoor weathering of the painted and decorated product is in accordance with the acceptable limits determined by various European regulations for architectural aluminium.

APPEARANCE:

excellent coverage on various types of surfaces. The metal base is not visible to the eye. When the decorated surface is examined under an oblique angle of approximately 60 degrees, from a distance of 3mt, there is no evidence of roughness, blistering, inclusions, pits, bulges, opaque areas, scratches or other defects.

GLOSS

(in accordance with ISO 2813 with incident light to 60 degree): standard GLOSS 30 (+5).

THICKNESS OF COATING LAYER

(in accordance with ISO 2360): Thickness on exposed surface – minium of 60 microns (as Qualicoat specifications).

ADHESION

(according to ISO 2409): result = 0.

HARDNESS

impression according to BUCHHOLZ (according to ISO 2815 standard): minium 80 with a minium thickness of 60 pm.

IMPACT TEST

(according to ISO 1520): minimum 3mm *.

BENDING TEST

(according to ISO 1519 standard): no cracks are visible after being bent over a mandrel with a diameter of 8mm *.

KESTERNICH ACCELERATED CORROSION TEST

(according to ISO 3231 – 0, 2 1 of S02 – 24 cycles): no peeling or penetration more than mm 1 from the edge of the incision.

MACHU TEST

(quick test): maximum penetration of corrosion 0.5mm from the edge of incision.

ACCELERATED WEATHERING TEST

(specific of Qualicoat). Final gloss (according to ISO 2813 standard 60 degree angle): more than 50% of the initial value. Colour variation: (according to ISO 105 B02/94 standard) index minimum value 7 on the blue range.

MORTAR RESISTANCE

(according to ASTM D 3260) minimum requirements passed.

RESISTANCE TO BOILING WATER

(test with pressure cooker) no loss of adhesion or presence of beads noted after 1 hour of testing.

RESISTANCE TO CONDENSED WATER

in a constant atmosphere: (according to DIN 50017 standard) after 1000h. of exposition, no blistering noticeable. Penetration less than 1mm from edge of incision bracing cross.

CUTTING - DRILLING - MACHINING

no problem created on decorated profiles. However, due to particular hardness of the decorative varnish coating, great care is recommended when cutting. The use of optimum cutting conditions avoiding workbench vibration is recommended. ** N.B: Mechanical tests have been executed on panels of aluminium alloy AA 5005 H 24, thickness 1mm. (on greater thickness, some values were no longer valid).

The data above reported are correct and they are the result of the tests of laboratory by us effects. Such data could receive modifications, without warning, being such finishes in continual evolution in a better way.
