Project Brief: Restore family heirloom bike to life
Organisation:DECO Australia Finish: Powder Coating: Dulux Surreal Effects Aztec Silver
The DECO tricycle has been in the family of Alison Doonan, wife of DECO founder Ross Doonan, since childhood. A favourite plaything of both Alison and her sister, the bike passed down over the years to daughters Meika, Ella and Clare.
From wear, tear and age, the bike’s original paint coating began to wear off, revealing the raw metal beneath which eventually corroded. This affected the bike’s ability to be used.
DECO’s Industrial team offered to restore the bike to its former glory. Remnants of the old coating were stripped off using DECO’s excellent abrasive blasting surfaces, cleaning the bike frame and handlebars and preparing it for a shiny new coating. DECO’s high-quality powder coating services helped create a hardwearing, attractive new coating that breathed new life into this family heirloom.
As good as new and with a glossy new coat that will last for years to come, the bike is back in operation, and can now be passed on to Alison’s grandchildren Teddy and Alyssa. Dulux Aztec Silver, from Dulux’s Surreal Effects range, was chosen to give the bike a contemporary ripple effect, highlighting its modernisation.
DECO’s powder coating team can provide a high-quality finish that will breathe new life into your components and give them a long life.
