2020 Splashback Trends

There are plenty of ways to update your home, however just by giving your splashbacks and wet area walls a refresh, you can completely transform a space. From over-sized splashbacks to pops of colour, here are DECO’s top five predicted splashback trends for 2020.

A Pop of Colour

While timeless neutral colours will always be popular, we expect to see a new wave of colours enter the home this year. A splashback is the perfect place to add some colour to your kitchen or bathroom. With so many colours to choose from, we suggest picking one that makes you feel exactly how you want to feel long term. The feeling of ‘wellness’ is a big influence for colour trends in 2020. Pantone's ‘Colour of the Year’ was Classic Blue, a deep blue that creates a sense of calmness and relaxation in a space.

Dulux have predicted greens, blues and earthy tones in their key colour palettes for 2020.

The Slab-look

The splashback is no longer a standard size. We want more drama in the home (the good kind) and an over-sized splashback adds a pleasant dramatic effect to your kitchen.  Wall styling and larger splashback profiles in marble and stone are a predicted trend for 2020.

The Terrazzo Trend

Terrazzo is a one-of-a-kind surface made from chips of recycled marble, quartz, granite and glass. Last year we saw Terrazzo make a roaring comeback and we expect to see a lot more of it in 2020. The Terrazzo style is truly unique and is available in both natural colours and bold, bright hues to suit all homes. Whether it’s a simple design you are after or an eye-catching mosaic, Terrazzo can achieve many wonderful looks.

Send us your own picture or terrazzo design and DecoSplash will make a custom splashback. Contact us for more information.

Love terrazzo in all it's applications.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #rePLANOLY @interiordesignmag⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's hard to imagine New York City, known for its grit and shades of gray, without layers of concrete. The multi-faceted material, used widely since ancient times, permeates every corner, surface, and sidewalk throughout the five boroughs. Naturally, a company fueled by the creation of artisanal concrete and terrazzo surfaces— @concretecollaborative got its start in a Brooklyn garage more than 10 years ago, around the time industrial design was gaining mainstream appeal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Concrete Collaborative's custom Terrazzo adds a pop of color to this contemporary kitchen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @concretecollaborative #concrete #terrazzo #architecturalconcrete #sponsored #melbournedesign⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #melbournedesigners⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #melbournedesigns⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #melbourneinteriordesign⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #graceinteriordesignsmelbourne ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #graceinteriordesigns⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #interiorsmelbourne⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #melbournebusiness⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #ilovemelbourne⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #designlife⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #interiorlovers ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #interiordesigner #interiors #interior #interiorstyle #interiorstyling #homedecor #homewares #interiordesignmelbourne⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #interiordesignermelbourne⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #melbourneinteriordesigner

Marble isn’t going anywhere

Marble will stand the test of time. Luxurious and sophisticated, marble will remain a popular choice for splashbacks, benchtops and home décor items this year.

Take advantage of product innovation and get the marble splashback without the price tag. DecoSplash offers granite and marble inspired splashbacks that look amazing but won’t cost a fortune.

Design tip: If you are choosing a marble-look for your splashback, pair it with brass ascents and navy cabinets.

Bohemian-Style

Exotic patterns, artistic shapes and surprising colour combinations are what makes bohemian-style so unique. We expect to see more fun and vibrant spaces in 2020, especially in the bathroom. Boho style is growing with popularity and people are embracing the bohemian inspired tiles in their homes more and more.
