In 2025 and beyond, colour and finish trends are predicted to reflect ones desire for comfort and security in the home. Sustainability is, importantly, another design consideration that has been incorporated into colour forecast palettes this year.
At DECO, many of our finishes are inspired by the natural environment. We expect to see muted, cooler tones, like blonde and grey woodgrains really forge the way in 2025. Taking inspirations from our friends at Dulux, our ‘2025 Finish Forecast’ offers our team’s expert advice as to what finishes align with Dulux’s three colour forecast palettes – Still, Emerge and Recollect.
‘Still’ has an instantly calming effect, creating a nourishing, comforting environment. It encourages a deeper connection with nature with warm greys accented by yellow-based neutrals, greens, and serene cool blues.
DecoWood® Curly Birch™ is one our more popular finishes of recent times – and it’s easy to see why. The warmth and cohesion of this finish pairs so elegantly with this calming trend. DecoWood® Smoked Ash™ and DecoWood® Blue Ash™ are both alternates for homes that demand a more suburban edge or for homes that are situated amongst towering trees and dense foliage.
An uplifting palette of paired-back pastels, Emerge has a feel-good energy and is filled with soft greens, mauves and warm pink to bring joy without overwhelming a space.
This trend gives a fresh and fun energy, which is why we’ve paired DecoWood® Hampton Beech™ and the brand new DecoWood® Linen Shore™ as part of this palette. The pastel colours highlight the timber grain in these two finishes and would provide a stable foundation for this youthful trend. The Light Concrete finish in the DecoVogue® series gives the cool background to support this and many future trends, and is suitable for wall panels, kitchen splashbacks or even battens and cladding!
Recollect is a moodier palette that evokes a sense of nostalgia, reflection and sophistication. Yellow-based greens and deep olive shades are paired alongside rich wine shades ranging from grape to plum.
Recollect and reconnect with nature with this trend. The rich tones of the DecoWood® Casuarina® finish inspires a richer and darker palette. The suggested reds and plums in this trend mean the DecoVouge® Edgy Auburn™ compliments this scheme, while the new DecoWood® Aspen Drift™ finish is a great alternative if you’re looking for a subdued earthy palette.
