Creating safe, hygienic and attractive hospital spaces with DecoSplash

Hospital construction costs are on the rise in Australia. A recent report by the Australian Business Review states that regulatory constraints contribute to these rising costs, making new hospital spaces in Australia almost two times more expensive to build than in other developed countries. With a population that is growing and aging, the demand for new facilities in hospitals will continue to increase, requiring the construction and design industry to specify cost-effective, quality design solutions that can withstand the intense daily hospital life.

The most basic elements of a hospital space, including the walls and wet area linings, need to be able to withstand the rigorous use of these fast-paced environments. Products used for these areas must meet strict design requirements for hospital spaces, especially in relation to hygiene, safety and durability.

A well-designed hospital facility will result in better staff and patient outcomes, reduce environmental impact and improve productivity. Attractive design solutions that offer superior durability and flexibility as well as reduced installation and maintenance costs are in high demand as the government tightens its budget.

DecoSplash is a solid aluminium splashback system that can be used for a range of applications including hallways, kitchens, bathrooms and wet area lining. Suitable for commercial purposes, DecoSplash is an ideal product for hospital applications as it is hygienic (with no grout lines to collect dirt and bacteria) and easy to clean/ maintain. Regular domestic surface spray and a damp cloth is all that is required to clean a DecoSplash, ensuring the product requires minimal time, cost and effort.

Aluminium is also lightweight and easy to install, diminishing the complexity of installation. DecoSplash can be installed directly on to wall surfaces, reducing the project times and labour costs.

The DecoSplash finish is high-quality, hard wearing and durable and it will never rub or peel off. The powder coated surface is designed to be scratch resistant, and antimicrobial powders are available on request. DecoSplash is safe for use in hospital kitchens as aluminium is a good conductor of heat. The splashback will quickly and evenly disperse heat, ensuring it remains a safe temperature. The product can also be used as a wall lining outside, unaffected by extreme weather conditions such as sunlight, rain or salt spray.

DecoSplash has been independently tested and is fully compliant with the relevant Australian regulations and standards for splashbacks. This includes the requirements for non-combustible materials in the National Construction Code and related gas and power point regulations. The DecoSplash power coating is compliant with the Class 2 Super Durable requirements of Qualicoat, the international standard for quality assurance in powder coating. DecoSplash is also fully compliant with AS 3715-2002, the Australian Standard for powder coating.

DecoSplash is available in range of sizes and decorative finishes, giving designers the creative freedom to achieve their desired aesthetic. Over 150+ designs are available in gloss, satin, anti-graffiti and antimicrobial finishes. DECO’s signature high-quality photo imaging technology also enables DecoSplash to be customised with a custom photo or design to achieve unique applications.
