DECO Australia and the Doonan family were honoured to be named the 'Family Business of the Year' last week at the 2025 Family Business Association Awards.

As a second-generation family business, our customer-first approach, strong family values and commitment to sustainability helped us bring home the coveted award, as well as the Established Family Business Award. Both awards serve as a celebration to the entire DECO team and our trusted partners who you have supported us over the years.

Founded be Ross Doonan in 2004, and soon joined by his three daughters Meika, Ella and Clare, as well as his wife Alison, their hard work, passion and belief in our innovative products and finishes, and a strong commitment to quality has helped them grow DECO into one of Australia’s leading aluminium building products manufacturer. 

Accepting the award last week, eldest daughter Meika Doonan, Director of Strategy & Governance, said she was humbled and honoured to be accepting the awards on behalf of her family.

“My dad, Ross, started the business 21 years ago, his vision was simple and powerful, ‘imagine what a business could achieve because it actually cared about its customers’ and that's the philosophy that we live by.”

Family businesses represent 70 per cent of all businesses in Australia and provide approximately 50 per cent of the nation’s workforce. They span the spectrum from small local shops to large multinational operations, demonstrating the diversity and strength of family entrepreneurship in the region.

DECO would like to congratulate all the other amazing businesses nominated in this year’s Family Business Awards, as well as fellow winners of the Founder’s Family Business Award, Eather Group from NSW and Legacy Family Business Award winner Yalumba from South Australia.
