DecoWood® aluminium battens have created a show-stopping backyard feature on this year’s The Block series. Sunday night’s episode revealed the House Four contestants’ impressive backyard, including the bespoke daybed, designed with DECO’s Super Durable™ woodgrain battens – DecoBatten.
Luke and Jasmin’s contemporary coastal backyard was a huge hit with the judges, scoring a remarkable 29.5 points out of 30. Complementing the home’s unique style, the captivating ‘wave bed’ is a standout design feature providing a relaxing place to escape for its new owners.
DECO’s new 25mm QuickClick™ DecoBattens were used to create the architectural design statement, whilst the DecoWood® Natural Curly Birch finish added a coastal touch that complemented the theme of their 1910s Brighton beach home. DecoWood’s marine-grade powder coat also gave the added benefit of being a super durable and low-maintenance woodgrain finish that never needs painting or staining.
House Four’s impressive curved daybed wowed all three judges, and was much-admired by renowned interior designer Shaynna Blaze, who exclaimed “I’ve got my mind blown”.
As Shaynna took the time to try out the daybed she commented on how surprisingly comfortable the battens were and could imagine spending many hours there.

Influenced by curves and Zen design, the designers of the daybed, Cos Design, wanted to create the perfect spot to escape and relax.
"From the buyer's perspective, you're not gonna forget this house. When you come to have a look at it, you're going to remember the house that had the massive daybed," said interior designer and The Block judge Neil Whitaker.
