It's not too late to get in on these must-have architectural trends

Looking to build or renovate? This year, some exciting trends have been shaking up the design industry, and they are only set to keep making waves as we move on into a new year – so make sure you jump on the bandwagon and kit out your new project with the hottest architectural trends sweeping the nation.

Batten cladding

Batten façades have been gaining momentum over the past couple of years, and they are set to explode into the spotlight as one of the most popular trends yet. With architects and designers clamouring for sleek, stylish battens to enhance their building designs, batten cladding has emerged on the scene as a handy, easy way to install battens across a range of surfaces.

DecoBatten’s® QuickClick™ batten systems, complete with SpaceBase™ backing offer the ultimate batten cladding system. Click here to find out more.

Sustainable architecture

Being green is in – and architects are increasingly searching for ways to create environmentally friendly designs. Seeking out energy efficient and recycled materials can reduce the strain on the earth’s resources, and using eco-friendly products allows architects to interweave creative, contemporary architecture with the promise of a sustainable future.

DecoWood® timber-look aluminium products are the perfect way to combine creativity with sustainability. With a realistic timber appearance for warm, natural designs, they are also 100% recyclable and reduce the need for logging. Because aluminium products last for years to come, they also eliminate the need for painting, oiling and staining, which would otherwise release harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.

Natural colour schemes

Where interior design is concerned, natural, neutral and earthy tones are all the rage. Soft beiges, as well as stone and granite are all must-haves these days.

Add some natural beauty to the inside of your building with the new DecoSplash® Natural Luxe collection. Whether used as a splashback, wet area lining or even a wall mural to add some character to a room, DecoSplash® is the ideal way for interior designers to make a statement. The Natural Luxe collection features opulent marble, elegant terrazzo and earthy granite and quartz, all of which lend a stylish natural look to a variety of inside space designs.

Curves and waves

Curved furniture, walls, decorations and accessories are taking centre stage, as architects draw inspiration from femininity and nature to create a relaxed environment. As well as curved products for interior design, curves and waves are set to ripple outwards to the outside of the building. Battens of different sizes can be arranged to create wave effect walls and fences, while round battens add a gentle elegance to façades, garage doors, privacy screens and more.

DecoBatten®’s unique tubular and radius battens can add some contemporary curves to any design.

Indoor-outdoor spaces

Fluidity in design and style is becoming increasingly popular. With open plan designs dominating the market, spaces need no longer be restricted to indoors or outdoors, but can flow from one to the other. Conservatories, courtyards, sun rooms and extended decks are all popular ways to transition from an indoor to outdoor, seamlessly blending the two. DecoFloor™ and DecoDeck® offer timber-look aluminium flooring for indoor-outdoor areas, while DecoWood® bifold doors are ideal for opening a room up to the outdoor area.
