Not just for guns: the many ways you can use Cerakote

If you have worked in defence, or buy and restore guns as a hobby, no doubt you have heard of Cerakote, the highly durable, thin-film ceramic coating often used on weapon parts. It’s impact resistant, hard, and very thin, making it ideal for coating guns with small, moveable components that can’t be hindered by a thick coating. It’s also highly customisable – almost any design, colour or pattern can be applied to your components using Cerakote.

But what you may not be aware of is that Cerakote is not just a weapon coating – it is a highly versatile product, and its durability and easy customisation, and the fact that it can be applied to any metal make it an attractive decorative and protective finish for a wide range of items.

Golf Clubs

Aside from guns, Cerakote is best known as a coating for golf clubs. Cerakote’s durability is highly suitable for use in games of golf, where the paint on clubs can chip due to impact from the ball. Cerakote, being a tough and hard coating, is highly resistant to chipping on impact, and can even be applied to irons used in stone or gravel areas. Cerakote’s flexibility means it can be used on club shafts as well, without cracking if the club bends or flexes slightly, and its corrosion and chemical resistant properties prevent your clubs from being damaged by fertilizer or weed killers used on the green. In addition, its highly customisable nature means golfers can choose their own designs, letting their clubs reflect their personal brand, style or favourite colours.

 Machine Parts

Because of its durability and thin-film properties, Cerakote is excellent for moving machine parts that need a strong coating that will not affect their mechanism.

Car Parts

Nothing says auto enthusiast like a customised car – and Cerakote delivers excellent customisation options to make your car stand out. Customising hubcaps with Cerakote is a popular choice, as your personalised design is not likely to wear or scratch off. Cerakote can also add durability to car and dirt bike engine parts.

Doorhandles

Matt black is having a moment in the sun in the architectural world. When architects and designers specify matt black doorhandles, they often turn to black anodised parts to fulfil their specifications. However, Cerakote is another highly durable option. This tough shell coating is excellent for doorhandles that may be vulnerable to scratches from frequent use – plus as a thin-film coating, it will not interfere with lock mechanisms or the movement of the handle.

Fitness Equipment

Because of its resistance to abrasion and impact, Cerakote makes an excellent coating for fitness equipment and weights – especially barbells which may be handled frequently and dropped heavily back onto their racks at the gym. Its corrosion resistance is excellent for protecting weights from corrosion caused by sweat or humid atmospheres, while its matte texture makes Cerakote grip friendly.

Custom Applications

Cerakote is a finish with many useful properties – and its customisable, durable nature makes it a popular choice not only for the applications above, but for protecting and personalising just about any item you imagine, including phone cases, pet collars, snowboards, knives and even sunglasses!
