2021 was a year when creativity flourished for architects, building designers and homeowners alike. With innovative designs coming to the forefront thanks to DECO’s amazing range of products, designers have been playing with colour, style, texture and finish to create some of the most eye-catching, memorable projects yet.
Whether you are planning a new project this year or seeking inspiration for down the track, here are some of our most popular projects from last year to help with your design planning.
The talented Michelle Viret Design and New Start Building & Construction took the popular mid-century modern concept and created the perfect hideaway in the midst of the Yarrawarrah National Park. The tranquil outdoor space is enhanced by the texture and beautiful timber appearance of DecoBatten® in Coastal Spotted Gum™, giving a sense of getting back to nature. Battens are becoming popular for both interior and exterior design, and this home leads the trend of using them to add texture, warmth and beauty to a living space.
Cladded garage doors have burst into the spotlight in the past year, as designers have sought ways to create seamless features that flow across the entirety of a space. Extending cladding across a garage door as well as a façade creates a sense of harmony across a design, and Lindon Homes and JSW Landscape and Design have given us a wonderful example of this on their latest show home, The Bonaventure. Cleverly utilising DecoClad® V-Groove across the front of the architecturally designed home including the entire triple garage results in a modern, sophisticated appearance with natural warmth. This natural beauty carries over onto the DecoDeck® decking which frames the pool and the DecoWood® louvres, illustrating why carrying a natural theme across an entire home is such a popular trend right now.
There is nothing better than combining two beloved trends, and the latest creation by designers Oak & Orange really brings the best of 2021. Classic coastal designs and rural homes are both enduring styles — and they have been cleverly combined in this house to create a memorable design that speaks to the modern-day homeowner’s dreams. DecoClad® and DecoBatten® have both been utilised in the alfresco area in soft, dewy Surfmist® to create a beautiful, low-maintenance pergola by the pool that encapsulates elements of country living and coastal luxury.
There’s no doubt about it — we are all mad for battens right now. With this trend looking to stay, designers are getting creative and experimenting with shapes and sizes to come up with something unique. Curved battens are a great way to create a unique, yet still on-trend, design statement. The Mediterranean-style Cross Project, a collaboration from Its Built, Lowi Interiors and Avenue Studio, blends traditional Mediterranean style with modern elements, and the DecoBatten® tubular battens add design flair and distinctive visual interest.
These amazing designs and many more can be achieved using DECO’s extensive range of beautiful, durable products. If you are looking for more inspiration or more ideas to build your dream 2022 project, contact our team or visit our Innovation Centre.
