Lorne, Victoria

Project Brief: A high-performing facade with a natural timber appearance.

Builder & Designer: Howley Construction

Product: DecoClad 'V-Groove' cladding

Colour: DecoWood ‘Weathered Timber’'

Sitting high above the Lorne coastline in regional Victoria, this residential property boasts extraordinary views of the Bass Strait. A remarkable position, but one that required thorough research and planning when it came to what building materials to use on the property.

The brief was simple: Design a home that complements its stunning location, incorporating a high-performing facade that will withstand the harsh conditions of its surrounding environment.

Impacted by salt spray, direct sunlight, and located in Bushfire Prone Area, the owners opted for DecoClad for much of the house façade. The solid aluminium cladding offered a BAL40 fire zone rating and the Super Durable DecoWood finish offered the adequate protection against salt spray and UV rays.
As well as meeting these key requirements, DecoClad also met the criteria of a low maintenance, natural timber-look product.

The DecoClad 'V-Groove' profile offers the finished project a traditional-looking, flush cladding profile, whilst the DecoWood 'Weathered Timber' finish created a contemporary, soft design feature that compliments the surrounding gumtrees and oceans views effortlessly.
