DecoUltra AD Anodising

Premium Aluminium Anodised Finishes for Sydney, Melbourne and Australia wide

For top quality anodising for your engineering, commercial cookware, defence or manufacturing project, choose DecoUltra, the premium series of anodised finishes from DECO Australia.

Anodised aluminium offers a durable protective coating for a wide range of products and industries. An electrolytic surface treatment process, anodising develops a tough aluminium oxide film over the surface of the treated part to create an aesthetically pleasing and hard-wearing finish for a wide range of products such as engineering parts, architectural fittings, appliances such as fridges, pans and more.

DecoUltra AD is DECO's durable, high-quality anodised finish, utilising premium anodising technology to produce a hardwearing aluminium oxide finish. It is available in two standard options as well as custom specifications:

  • DecoUltra AD: 15 microns for corrosion and abrasion protection in mild environments (suitable for applications where a thinner coating is required such as moving or precisely-fitted parts)
  • DecoUltra AD+: 25 microns for corrosion, moisture and abrasion protection in mild environments (suitable for applications requiring higher corrosion resistance or a thicker coating than DecoUltra AD).
  • DecoUltra AD Custom: Any thickness up to 30 microns for specific project requirements can also be catered for.

NB: All our work orders are processed with a thickness tolerance. Please contact customer service to discuss your tolerance requirements.

DecoUltra AD Features

  • Corrosion-resistant: anodising converts the surface of the base material into a protective coating resistant to water, moisture and rust
  • Scratch-resistant: High wear resistance and ability to withstand abrasion
  • Non-chip: the coating becomes part of the metal itself, and cannot chip or blister
  • Graffiti-resistant: graffiti marks will wipe off with a damp cloth
  • Chemical-resistant: can stand up to mild acids
  • Interior or exterior applications: can be used across a wide range of products
  • Australian Made: DECO is entirely Australian owned and operated

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the thickness of DecoUltra AD anodising?

Our DecoUltra AD anodising series is offered in two standard thicknesses:
DecoUltra AD: 15 microns (suitable for applications where a thinner coating is required such as moving parts or precisely-fitted parts).

DecoUltra AD+: 25 microns (suitable for applications requiring higher corrosion resistance or a thicker coating).

DecoUltra is also available as a hard anodised series of finishes for extremely hardwearing applications: DecoUltra ZD . To find out more about our DecoUltra ZD hard anodising technology and thicknesses available, click here.

Need a different micron thickness? Contact us to discuss your specific project requirements.

NB: All our work orders are processed with a thickness tolerance. Please contact customer service to discuss your tolerance requirements.

What is the capacity of DECO's anodising tanks?

DECO can anodise products up to 2800mm long, 1000mm deep and 400mm wide. In some instances, we can anodise products up to 3600mm long; contact us for more information.

Can my anodised products be coloured?

Because the aluminium surface formed on the product is porous, it is possible for dyes to seep into the pores of the aluminium. Parts can also be coloured electrolytically. Please check our colours page for our available DecoUltra anodising colours.

Can you anodise aluminium alloys?

All aluminium alloys will anodise differently depending on their composition, which may cause the anodised finish to vary in colour and effect. DECO recommends 6000 series alloys for the best effect, however other alloys can be anodised depending on project requirements. Talk to us about your alloy choice to determine the best outcomes for your project.

Is DecoUltra AD anodising chemically resistant?

Anodising protects aluminium from mild acids, but can be attacked by alkali materials such as lime mortars and cement.

Is DecoUltra AD anodising heat resistant?

Anodising is generally heat resistant up to around 600C (the melting point of aluminium). However, at temperatures higher than 150C, the anodising and aluminium part beneath may begin to expand at different rates, resulting in hairline cracks appearing on the finish (known as crazing). To find out more about how we can cater for high temperature applications, contact us.
